509 Splenosis, an Important Differential for Peritoneal Metastases

Abstract Splenosis is defined as the auto-transplantation of splenic tissues in other sites body. It a rare benign condition and can be an incidental finding. However, early diagnosis essential differential splenosis includes peritoneal metastases. Early identification relies on recognising relevant past medical history including injury or splenectomy. confirmed through usage technetium-99m colloid scan. By using nuclear medicine scans, repeated invasive investigations such biopsy diagnostic laparoscopies avoided. We present here case 51-year-old woman who was extensively investigated by gynaecology department general surgery department, even undergoing laparoscopy following presentations to primary secondary care with chronic abdominal pelvic pain. She had splenectomy 28 years earlier for traumatic injury. CT scan abdomen pelvis showed features suspicious multiple metastases hence she urgently referred colorectal cancer multidisciplinary meeting. A subsequent nodules cavity. The patient reassured discharged. In conclusion, known trauma, important diagnosis. careful appropriate will avoid unnecessary referral investigations.
